I’m Alex Breeden, an apparel, logo, and brand designer based in Brooklyn. I'm originally from Southeast Michigan which gives me the unique ability of knowing how to pronounce words like Mackinac, Schoenherr, and Dequindre, but the unique inability to pronounce words like mirror, or garage... oh well!
I'm a lifelong Michigan State fan (Go Green!) which makes some of my favorite work all the more confusing considering the fact I've designed quite extensively for their bitter rival the University of Michigan. Working with U of M has given me the opportunity to create designs for one of the biggest brands in the world, adding my stamp on tradition that spans generations. I developed all of the branding for their NIL program Champions Circle and have had the opportunity to create logos and apparel for their premier athletes and alumni.
I'm proud of my ability to execute on the designs people ask for, but my real skill is understanding what makes a design have meaning. What sets me apart from other designers is my skill as a perceptive observer, my obsession with context, and my ability to notice, curate, and expand upon small details into designs that people love. Yes, I care deeply about creating great work that looks nice, but I care even more about creating something that resonates.
If my work has resonated with you at all I'd love to hear about your upcoming project. At a minimum if you find yourself in Williamsburg let's grab a coffee and chat about design, what you're reading, or why the 2004 Pistons are the best basketball team of all time.
Thanks for your time!
